These are a few of my favourite things
Artists
These would be influences
Ben Dunn
(Ninja High School)
I loved his older style better but the new one is good, just in a different way. He doesn't seem to be spending as much time working on details, though. :(
Much of my art style was initially influenced by his old style, especially Aeyar's boots, how to draw profiles, and how to draw noses. Lately, I've been leaning back towards Kazuhiro Ochi's style, and I've been picking up from others, as well.
Kazuhiro Ochi
(Cosmic Fantasy)
No wonder I liked the games so much!
I started drawing really anime-style because of Mr. Ochi's work. Over the years, I've tried several times to mimic his eyelash style, but haven't been successful as of yet. I've pretty much always used his eye style, except at the very beginning, when I did something horrible. Most characters I draw use his eye style, although a couple are different.
Jim Davis
(Garfield, US Acres)
I've always been a big fan of Garfield. Perhaps that's why I seem so sarcastic. I liked US Acres, too but it's gone!
The simplicity of his bipedal animals made me start drawing.
Shirow Masamune
(Ghost in the Shell)
The first thing of his I read was Appleseed, so I like it best. GitS is pretty cool, but I really didn't like the first movie. I haven't seen the 2nd movie or either TV show extensively yet, but they seem better.

He's just awesome at art overall, and I like his complex plots. I sometimes steal his funny cat mouth, generally for Dusk.
Musicians
I prefer classical or jazz music

I like interesting compositions

Most remixes suck
Yuzo Koshiro
(Actraiser)
Actraiser was simply amazing. How could you do that with video game music? His ambient music in the "Thor" AKA "Oasis" games was pretty interesting.
Nobuo Uematsu
(Final Fantasy)
After doing a super-human job on the score for Final Fantasy VI, he's simply been unable to match his brilliance since. :\
Yoko Kanno
(Cowboy Bebop)
She can create such an incredible range of music. Classical, jazz, pop, rock. You name it, she's done it. Some of the more experimental or gimmicky pieces can be annoying, though. On the whole, highly recommended!
Maaya Sakamoto
(Vision of Escaflowne)
She works with Yoko Kanno a LOT (almost exclusively?), so it's no surprise that I found I liked her as well. She's the only singer on this list!
Alan Silvestri
(Many movies)
Mr. Silvestri has done a huge number of movie scores like Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, Fern Gully, etc.
