Instead of starting to sketch my CG on Wed like I'd hoped to do, I instead found myself merely starting to think of beginning on Friday. O_O Even then, I felt that I really needed to go back and work on some really basic art-related things, so I grabbed my copy of Cosmic Fantasy 3, took The Guidebook out and tried to emulate Kazuhiro Ochi's style better. (On a related note, sadly, Kazuhiro Ochi's web page has gone MIA.

Guidebook in hand, I drew a picture of Mai and then attempted to draw Yuu. Mai turned out pretty well and I noticed some curious things I've been doing with the eyes. Also, I learned a little bit about noses as well as the curvature of the cheek. The bit about the eyes is rather tricky to understand but I think I can improve the nose and face a bit.

...Feeling pretty good, I attempted to draw Yuu, which turned out very badly. I did pick up on some of the differences Ochi uses when drawing male and female characters. For example, the noses are more prominent, as well as the lower lip (?).... Also, Ochi's style of drawing hair is rather different from the way I've been drawing.

...So...this morning, I sat down and used Poser 4 to make a rough layout for yesterday's CG.... I'm currently (1:07p) taking a break from drawing so that I can go back to it later and tweak it (with a fresh mind) and then scan it.

...6:27p
I thought I could sit back and play some Star Ocean: The Second Story. So, I wander around a bit (I have no idea what I'm doing anymore) and get killed.... After a battle, the Playstation decides it doesn't want to go back to the overmap and hangs.

For example, the noses are more prominent, as well as the lower lip (?). He also makes the eyebrows MUCH larger. Also, Ochi's style of drawing hair is rather different from the way I've been drawing. (Whether I've ever been trying to draw entirely in Ochi's style is questionable.)

So...this morning, I sat down and used Poser 4 to make a rough layout for yesterday's CG. Then, I sketched it out on paper and then detailed it. I also drew helpful lines on the picture to aid in "shading." I'm currently (1:07p) taking a break from drawing so that I can go back to it later and tweak it (with a fresh mind) and then scan it. I could CG and post tonight or I could put it off until Sunday. I'll probably at least start tonight.

I thought I could sit back and play some Star Ocean: The Second Story. So, I wander around a bit (I have no idea what I'm doing anymore) and get killed. Fine. So, I play again. After a battle, the Playstation decides it doesn't want to go back to the overmap and hangs. ARGH. It can't be overheating; I only had it on for maybe 20 minutes! Jeez. so, I give up and get around to finishing Shenmue. Ooh...January 1. How convenient.

Also, Packy the robo-cat in Bust-a-Move 4 is unnecessarily cute.
