You start off in Toto Village.
Leave town. After you go NE for a little, the field widens. The fastest way to the next town is to head W just a little until the way W narrows. At that point, head N just a bit, then continue W until you see the little ramp going into town (at the top of the screen). This is レートの町 [the village of Rate].

The inn is a little different here. The sign is marked "Hin" and the inn is upstairs. By the stairs is a map of Aila you can look at.

Go into the Item Shop (mallet and pouch) and talk to Doga, the guy in front of the counter. Say Yes.
Leave town and go SW, towards ドーラの森 [the forest of Dora]. Go up the ramp to ドガの小屋 [Doga's cabin], knock on the door, and step forward.
You will receive a woodcutter's axe. This appears at the bottom of your item list. Then, Omui shows up at Doga's cabin. If you talk with him, he'll let you rest and save. NOTE: If you do save here, when you load you MAY (It's happened the last two times for me but I don't know it everyone will experience this) just get a black screen. If you press II and it makes the menu sound, press it again, then press the directions randomly until you appear outside the cabin. I'm guessing just pressing the lower directions will work.

Now that you have two party members, you can choose the order they'll attack in (by selecting one before the other during combat). The "Select menu" option "Replace line" will also work.
Head North and then West all the way. Enter the little cave. Talk to Mamon.

Note: In combat, Rei's first spell is healing, "Raty 1." That's also the only spell he can use out of combat.

From there, go South until the way opens to the West. Go pretty much all the way, then North. When you reach the little house, go inside and talk to the old man, Vusan. Now you can use the boat outside. After you dock, テムの村 [Temu Village] is just SE of there.

用語解説　Glossary

属性…魔法、サイキックやいくつかの武器は気、炎、氷、風、地のいずれたに属しており、効果を特徴づけています。
Attribute…magic, psychic, and a few weapons have Spirit, Flame, Ice, Wind, and Earth belonging to them. These effects are fixed characteristics of them.

攻撃力／防御力…数値大きほど攻撃力／防御力が高くなります。
Attack power/Defense power…If there is a large number, Attack power/Defense power is made higher.

特殊効果…戦闘時にその武器を「特殊効果」コマンドで使った際の効果です。
Special effect…In combat, this is the effect that occurs when you can use a "special effect" command for those weapons.

DX…その武器の使用した時にアップする「すばやさ」です。
DX…When using those weapons, speed will raise.

命中…この数値が大きいほど武器の命中率が高くなります。
A hit…When this number is high, the numer of hits goes up.

C…この数値が大きいほど「クリティカルヒット」が出やすくなります。
C…When this number is high, it becomes easier to achieve a "critical hit."

抗魔力…魔法にたいする防御力の強さをあわらします。
Magic resistance…the strength of magic-opposing defense power.

対特／属性…特定の属性をもつ攻撃にたいする防御力の高さでる。たとえば「気５０％」だと、気の属性の攻撃のダメージを５０％に低減できる、ちう意 味です。
Special protection/attributes…Weapons that posess particular attributes defense power is higher. For example, in the case "Spirit 50%," the significance is that damage from an attack based on the spirit attribute can be decreased by 50%.
